Has Google begun it's downward spiral?

Although I'm sure plenty of you will disagree, I definitely see some tough times ahead for Google. Hear are a few determining factors of why I think their reign at the top is coming to an end, sooner rather than later.

1. They are just not as nimble as they use to be, for instance, they have been talking about this android platform for awhile now and are even putting a hold on its development recently according to this article: Android development delayed

2. In lieu of all this growth, there have actually been a staggering amount of engineers leaving this software engineer utopia to start there own projects. Recently, 3 former Google engineers left to start up a company that would directly compete with Google. This new search engine is called Cuil.com and supposedly has more indexed pages than any search engine in existence. Read this article: http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2008/07/28/ap5262280.html
It kind of reminds me of when Microsoft was the geek's paradise and then all of a sudden the talent starting moving to greener pastures.

3. Google seems to be spending a whole lot of there time fighting litigation domestically and all over the world. A lot of people say this is what hurt Microsoft back in 1999, because almost every project had to be passed by a committee and signed off on by a team of blood-sucking lawyers. Read this: http://uk.reuters.com/article/internetNews/idUKL573071020080726

4. Lastly, I just think they are lacking a lot of charisma nowadays and it almost seems like it started as soon as they went public nearly 3 years ago. Its seems like they are most focused on increasing the stock price instead of actually innovating. ie. Acquiring YouTube, DoubleClick, etc. If I had a bunch of Google equity, I personally think now is the time to cash out. But hey, I could be completely wrong or I could just be stating the obvious.

My Latest Project: Enterprise Content Mgmt (ECM)...whoopie doo!

My latest system integration project includes building an ECM solution for my latest client\employer, which will include a plethora of IT buzzwords, such as:
- Document Mgmt (DM)
- Records Mgmt (RM)
- Business Process Mgmt (BPM)
- Knowledge Mgmt (KM)
- Enterprise Integration Portal (EIP)
- Business Intelligence (BI)

The software vendor we chose to go with is OpenText, which is a fairly big player in the ECM market.
My first milestone is to become an expert with the product OpenText eDOCS DM , (formerly HummingBird DM) for which I will be whisked away to beautiful Ottawa next week to meet with the OpenText DM gurus. When I return the next stage is to devise a plan on how to possibly integrate DM into one of our many business lines. I foresee a lot of potential customizations will be needed to accommodate each of the groups that are within the dozen different business lines.
The exciting\challenging part of this endeavor is that I'll be exposed to a whole new set of technologies, which I don't typically use on a day-today basis; such are JSP,Tomcat, J2EE, AXIS and of course all the OpenText APIs, which look a bit overwhelming at first glance.
The cool part about this project is that if it's a screaming success, it could possibly impact the day-to-day life of over 200,000+ employees...someday. But honestly, you and I both know that won't happen anytime soon, because of how the corporate IT world works.
So, to sum up the alphabet soup, I will be working on a ECM solution, that will be made up of DM, RM, KM, BPM and EIP, all to just to attain BI across the enterprise.
Cool Beans! (anyone see the movie HotRod?)

Windows XP SP3 bug, Windows Update fails

I just installed SP3 for XP and realized a couple days later that all windows updates were failing during the installation process.
I later found out that SP3 lays down a few new files, but does not seem to register the new DLL's...Thanks MS! Maybe this is a side effect of Bill Gates leaving the company??
Anyway, in order to fix this anomaly, just run these commands in a batch file.

regsvr32 /s wuapi.dll
regsvr32 /s wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 /s wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 /s wucltui.dll
regsvr32 /s wups2.dll
regsvr32 /s wups.dll
regsvr32 /s wuweb.dll

After that, all should work fine. Hopefully I don't experience anymore issues with SP3, because so far, it has only done me evil.
